This strikes me as the kind of thing we'd need a full programme item to do justice to - in the same vein as "Man of Iron".
Get yourself a slot and a room, advertise for principal singers, give each one a rudimentary bit of costume to get in character (yes, you can use my Gandalf hat) and print out sing-along sheets for the audience. For extra credit, get an OHP with a still from the movies to provide backdrop to each scene.

Well, the idea came up at Rachael's BBQ, and we agreed we'd do something with it if we got interest. And I think we'll have plenty ;)

Please comsider this an Official Item Request. If we could have it on Friday, or Saturday daytime, then anyone participating would have the option of entering the Cabaret/Masquerade with a song.

I could give you a slot at 10am Saturday morning. That's the slot before the cabaret sign-up, so people could go straight from one to the other if they feel inspired.
